Tolosa

“Great wines begin with great vineyards and an unwavering respect for the land. Tolosa was founded to honor the extraordinary character of Edna Valley and craft wines that faithfully express this remarkable place.”
Robin Baggett

Tolosa Winery was founded in 1998 by vintner Robin Baggett in the heart of California's renowned Edna Valley, one of the world's premier cool-climate wine regions for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winery takes its name from Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, established in 1772 and named after Saint Louis, Bishop of Toulouse, France, creating a meaningful connection between California's early winemaking heritage and the French origins of the grape varieties that define Tolosa today.

Long before founding the winery, Robin Baggett helped pioneer the modern winegrowing movement in Edna Valley. Beginning in 1991, he developed approximately 800 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards, recognizing the region's remarkable combination of cool Pacific breezes, marine influence, and ancient soils that allow these varietals to thrive.

Today, Tolosa continues this vision by crafting vineyard-driven Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that reflect the distinctive character of Edna Valley. Rooted in history, guided by stewardship, and inspired by the great wine traditions of France, Tolosa represents a legacy of place, pioneering spirit, and uncompromising quality.
